Staff

We have a dedicated staff at Temple Sinai, consisting of the following people:

Heidi Smith Hyde is our Director of Education. She is a graduate of Brandeis University and Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2001, she earned a certificate in Jewish Family Education from Hebrew College.  Prior to becoming Temple Sinai’s Director of Education, she served as a religious school teacher as well as a Jewish Family Educator. Heidi is the author of Mendel’s Accordion, an East European folktale about the origins of Klezmer music, and Feivel’s Flying Horses. Her third children’s book will be ready for publication soon. Heidi is the 2008 recipient of the Keter Torah Award for outstanding contributions in Jewish education. She and her husband have two sons.

Linda Katz is the Temple Sinai Executive Director. She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Temple. Linda is always available to answer questions of members and prospective members, and can be reached at the temple office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Andrea Katz is Temple Sinai’s Family Educator. Andrea is a graduate of Brandeis University with a degree in Near Eastern Judaic Studies and a minor in Education. In addition, she completed a Master’s Degree at the Hornstein Program in Jewish Communal Service at Brandeis, while Education Director of BJEP (formerly known as the Brandeis Jewish Education Program), an independent Sunday morning Jewish studies school. Andrea taught Hebrew and prayer in Grades 4 – 6 for three years at Temple Emanu-el in Marblehead, and wrote and implemented family education programs in the religious school. A mother of three children, she brings enthusiasm for Judaism and a love of Israel to her work.

Rebekah Goldman is Temple Sinai’s Youth Educator. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, she studied religion and philosophy with a minor in Jewish Studies at Louisiana State University, and she is currently working towards a Masters degree from Hebrew College in Jewish Studies. In 2007, Bekah worked as the Children’s and Camp Director for the Jewish Community Center of New Orleans and subsequently taught high school English in Israel for a year. She has also worked extensively with young adults and toddlers with special needs, and has taught Hebrew school in several different synagogues. Bekah was also a youth advisor for five years while attending college and afterward.

Harriette Feuerman and Linda Sherman share the position of Temple Secretary. They provide support for the Rabbi, the Board and Temple members.

Kathy Arnstein is the Office Assistant.  She schedules oneg Shabbats and provides administrative support for various Temple programs.

Mario Calderon has served Temple Sinai as Custodian for more than 25 years.

Ron Luce, our weekend custodian, joined Temple Sinai’s staff in 2009.
