Staff We have a dedicated staff at Temple Sinai, consisting of the following people:

 

Heidi Smith Hyde is our Director of Education. She is a graduate of Brandeis University and Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2001, she earned a certificate in Jewish Family Education from Hebrew College. Heidi has been working in the field of Jewish education for over twenty years. Prior to becoming Temple Sinai’s Director of Education, she served as a religious school teacher as well as a Jewish Family Educator. Heidi is the author of Mendel’s Accordion , an East European folktale about the origins of Klezmer music. Her second children’s book, Feivel’s Flying Horses , will be released by Kar-Ben Publishers in 2010. Heidi is the 2008 recipient of the Keter Torah Award for outstanding contributions in Jewish education. She and her husband have two teenage sons.     

 

Linda Katz is the Temple Sinai administrator. She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Temple. Linda is always available to answer questions of members and prospective members, and can be reached at the temple office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

 

Sandi Intraub is the temple's Jewish Family Educator. She is in her fifth year of rabbinical school at Hebrew Union College (HUC) and is from Bayside, New York. While in rabbinical school, Sandi was an intern at Central Synagogue in NY and completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Hebrew Senior Life in Boston. Prior to HUC, Sandi was a DeLeT fellow in a program at Brandeis University designed to train Jewish Day School teachers. Sandi earned both her undergraduate degree and Masters in Teaching from Brandeis, and taught at the Rashi School for three years. She also went on an American Jewish World Service trip to Senegal to learn about global justice.

 

Elyssa Cohen is our Youth Educator. Elyssa grew up on Long Island, NY, and graduated from Brandeis University with a double major in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies, and minors in Judaic Studies and Creative Writing. Elyssa has been involved in social justice work since high school, when she founded a chapter of the ADL's education program "A World Of Difference" at her public school. Elyssa values a strong sense of community, and was involved in a variety of groups at Brandeis reflecting that goal. Last year she was a Jewish Organizing Initiative fellow and worked as the Community Organizer at Keshet, an organization working for the full inclusion of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender individuals within the Jewish community. Elyssa has taught religious school for many years. Please contact her with any questions or ideas you may have for programing in our religious school and youth groups.


Harriette Feuerman and Linda Sherman share the position of Temple Secretary.They provide support for the Rabbi, the Board and Temple members.

 

Mario Calderon has served Temple Sinai as Custodian for more than 25 years.
