Mitzvah Day 2006 Temple Sinai’s 4th annual Mitzvah Day was held on Sunday, April 2, 2006, and it was a tremendous success. The event is an opportunity to put into practice the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam, repairing the world. Projects included visiting and entertaining seniors at 2 nearby residences, preparing meals for the Ronald McDonald House and the Anna Bissonnette House (a residence for formerly homeless seniors), sprucing up the Esplanade, and visiting community homes for adults with disabilities. With about 100 people of all ages participating, Temple Sinai members and staff demonstrated their commitment to our community and neighborhood.

Another part of Mitzvah Day is a collection drive. This year’s drive was for Birthday Wishes, a local non-profit organization that holds birthday parties for children in homeless shelters. We collected various items appropriate for use at these parties, and one of the religious school classes made goodie bags filled with small toys, stickers, and other items. Everyone's contributions helped make a child's special day a little brighter.
