Kindergarten What a wonderful year of learning lies ahead!  This is my third year teaching Kindergarten at Temple Sinai. During the week, I am a full time Elementary Art Teacher in Swampscott, MA.   In my role as a religious school teacher, I love to provide children with opportunities to explore, discover, and learn about all the many beautiful aspects of Judaism, our traditions, customs, songs, holidays, language, and more.  My teaching assistant is the sparkling Haley Vinick, a student at Boston University.

This year in Kindergarten we will journey through the letters of the aleph-bet, learning to recognize them through sight and sound. We will study a new letter every week and continue to review through games, the arts and our special aleph-bet pamphlet series.  We will also take a year-long tour through the Jewish holidays, making stops along the way to delight in their sights, symbols, sounds, and traditions. We will use art, music, movement, and our Jewish holiday folders to celebrate every special holiday. The performance of mitzvot will be an important aspect of our Kindergarten classroom this year. Each week we will discuss Tzedakah and other mitzvot that help us care for our world and the people and animals in it.  Each week the children will be asked about mitzvot they have part-taken in, been receivers of, or seen others perform, making the world a happier and healthier place.  In Judaism the tree stands for life, knowledge, growth, heritage, and great strength. Our Kindergarten classroom etz (tree) will stand as a focal point and foundation for thinking about the aleph-bet, the Jewish holidays, and mitzvot.  I look forward to sharing our space of learning each Sunday with your child.  I am always available to you via email for any questions or concerns at reisenbe@lesley.edu .
