| Grade 2
I would like to warmly welcome your children to Grade 2! I am a recent graduate of Brandeis University, where I minored in Near Eastern Judaic Studies, and majored in Sociology and Spanish. I have worked as a camp counselor for many years, and most recently served as a counselor and substitute Site Director at the Stanley School in Waltham. This year we will study the Hebrew alphabet by focusing on recognition and differentiation of letters and their sounds. I will also gently introduce the vowels and help students develop decoding skills. Holidays are an important part of the curriculum, and with the help of our textbook, “My Jewish Year,” we will learn about the true meaning of our tradition and read some wonderful rabbinic tales. Each week we will study a new bible story; the children will take home completed Torah pamphlets that they can share with their families. In addition to weekly music, we will explore Jewish values, and learn how to apply these concepts to our lives. This activity cultivates thoughtful, caring, unselfish and giving individuals. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you as we begin our year of learning and fun. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns or comments at
