Grade 4
Grade 4A
This is my second year teaching at Temple Sinai. Previously, I taught religious school in Missouri while attending Washington University in St. Louis. This year in Grade 4A, the students will continue to build on the Hebrew reading and writing skills they began in third grade. We will also focus on Hebrew grammar and writing in cursive. In addition to Hebrew, we will be studying the Jewish holidays as they occur and do many art projects to accompany these holidays. We will explore the ancient prophets and learn what it means to be a mensch (good person). I have a lot of fun games, activities and stories planned to make the learning process enjoyable and exciting. The students have music every Sunday with Daniel Ruben, as well as bi-monthly Tefillah services with Cantor Toubes.
Because we will be covering so much material in class, there will be homework assigned every night. As your children already know, the homework is designed to take no more than 10 minutes. I know that everyone is very busy, but I also know that there is no substitute for review done outside of class. Homework goes home every night in a red folder and should return to the next class in the same folder. This is a great way for your child to share what we are learning in class with you. I am looking forward to spending a great year teaching and learning along with your children. I am always available via email if there are any questions at

Grade 4B
My name is Rebecca Gil and I am one of the 4th grade teachers here at Temple Sinai. When I am not teaching, I am a full-time graduate student at Brandeis University. Prior to working at Temple Sinai, I taught religious school in Baltimore, Maryland. We have an exciting year of learning ahead. This year the students are studying Modern Hebrew. This does mean that there will be a small amount of homework assigned every week. Homework will include reading, grammar or vocabulary. Please make sure your children do the work assigned! It will make reading Hebrew a much easier and more enjoyable experience. In addition to Hebrew, we will also be studying the ancient prophets, whom we will learn about through stories and discussion questions. Your child will learn how to be a mensch using an interactive book I know he or she will enjoy! Throughout the year we will celebrate the Jewish holidays, as well as review the Torah portion of the week. I have several fun art projects planned to go along with the Jewish holidays. The students will have music every Sunday, and Tefillah twice a month with Cantor Toubes. I look forward to a fabulous year here at Temple Sinai, and can't wait to get to know your children.
