My name is Ariella Brunwasser and I’m so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I am now in the second year of my graduate work at Harvard Divinity School for a Master’s of Theological Studies. I am training to be a high school English teacher who incorporates themes of religion into the study of literature. This year at religious school, I will be helping my class strengthen their knowledge of the Hebrew language by building skills in reading, writing, and speaking. The students will be expanding their vocabulary throughout the year, and will become more comfortable reading different Hebrew texts. In addition, we will be studying narratives from the Bible and learning to apply these lessons to our own contemporary context. Recently we discussed the rivalry between Jacob and his brother Esau as an archetype for the dos and don’ts of conflict resolution. Our textbook will help us apply the timeless wisdom of the Torah to our daily lives in our striving to become better friends, neighbors, and citizens.
