The Temple Sinai Rainbow Committee is dedicated to developing the temple’s warm and welcoming atmosphere for the gay, lesbian, transgendered and bisexual community. Highest priorities are ensuring a supportive, gay-friendly culture and working to make sure Temple Sinai's school provides a safe and nurturing environment for gay youth.
Rainbow Weekend: January 22 - 24, 2010 This weekend, co-sponsored by Temple Sinai, Congregation Am Tikva and Keshet, features two exciting programs:
Friday Night: Guest Speaker Dr. Robert Weintraub Dr. Robert Weintraub, Headmaster of Brookline High School, will give the guest D'var Torah at Erev Shabbat services on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. His topic is "A New Generation's Attitudes Toward Sexual Identity".
Rabbi Karen Landy, a Temple Sinai member, will chair a panel discussion on "Transgender Issues in the Jewish Community". The panel will include Rabbi Daniel Judson of Hebrew College; Alex Coleman, lawyer and psychologist and one of the first openly transgendered individuals in the Jewish community; Mycroft Holmes, an active member of Congregation Am Tikva; and Laurie Wolf, representing Keshet, Boston's GLBT Jewish advocacy organization.
